Server Co-Location Services now Available 4/17/2004 12:00:00 AM
We're happy to annouce that our new Data Center is now accepting server co-locations. Over the past several years, we've been asked time after time if we could support customer's servers in our Data Center. Due to space and power limitations in our previous facility, this was not a service we could offer our customers.

Since the transfer into our new Data Center, we've installed new three-phase UPS to support the growing power consumption that we require. In doing so, we've opened over 1000 sq/ft for server co-locations.

Please contact your account manager if you're interested in utilizing these services, full rate sheets and detailed site specifications will be sent upon request.

Virus Filtering now standard on ALL Email Accounts 3/12/2004 12:00:00 AM
We completed the installation of our redundant virus filtering gateways, which scan *all* Email entering/leaving the facility through any of our managed/shared products. This system is updated on an hourly basis with new virus definitions, and provides another level of defense against the rising amount of junk mail and virus infected Emails that are now abundant on the Internet.

Within 24 hours of installation, we've captured and cleaned over 114,000 Emails of harmful viruses and/or malicious scripts. While most of our competitors charge for such a service, we've decided to offer this service free of charge to our customers.

New Data Center Online! 12/12/2003 12:00:00 AM
All equipment has been re-located in our new facilities, and our turn-up and transfer of IP's and routing information was seamless. Our total transition time from our previous facility was less than 3 hours, which involved transferring hundreds of servers, in addition to routing equipment, switches, etc. Our new Data Center was custom-built from the ground up to meet our exact needs, along with an On-Site diesel Generator sized to power our entire facility for up to 30 days without utility power.

Over the next several weeks, we'll be adding additional support staff, increasing our billing hours, and providing even better services for our valued customers. Immediate benefits from the transfer include over 10X the bandwidth we had allocated at our previous facilities. We're now located on 4 Fiber Sonet loops, entering our facility at multiple locations for increased redundancy.

Should you have any questions about the transition, please don't hesitate to contact your account manager!

Planned Outage 12/11/2003 12:00:00 AM
Dear Valued Customer,

As you may already know, Siteserver has been in the process of designing, building and planning a migration into new facilities for the last year which will allow us to raise our level of service with both a 99.9% Guaranteed service uptime, along with extended support hours, additional operators and many new services that will be introduced in the near future. In our current location, we've faced power limitations, phone company facility problems and other issues that have prevented us from expanding our network to maintain the level of service you've come to expect from Siteserver.

We're happy to announce that on Friday, December 12th at 4:00PM PST, our migration into our new facilities will begin. During a transfer of this magnitude, we will experience service outages ranging from 1-2 hours until full service is restored. It's important to note that all services including DNS, Mail, Web, FTP, Phone & Fax, and any other services Siteserver provides will be affected. We've carefully designed our migration to keep downtime to an absolute minimum, while insuring the successful move into our new facilities.

We realize this may be an inconvenience, so we've timed it to take place during one of our lowest usage periods, affecting the fewest customers possible. Customers will benefit from the numerous improvements being done, some of which are listed below:

* Increased Internet circuits nearly doubling our total aggregate bandwidth available
* Larger On-Site generator now supports our entire facility, including our support operations during the event of a power outage
* Dry-Type Sprinkler system throughout our datacenter with FM-200 dispensing agents
* Newly-designed Data Center achieves 1GBPS between all critical network elements
* Full BGP Routing between 5 different tier 1 providers
* Larger call center reducing (or eliminating) call-hold times and/or voice-mail
* Live-Chat via http://www.siteserver.net available 24/7

In addition to the items listed above, we'll also be using this migration period to upgrade hardware across our entire line of products allowing us to serve you better. After the process is completed, you'll notice quicker access times, shorter paths to our network, and faster web servers delivering your content. We're certainly looking forward to this large step forward, and we look forward to serving you for years to come!

EMail Service Migration 9/16/2003 12:00:00 AM
We would like to inform you of an upcoming change to the e-mail service we provide. Over the next 5 days, Siteserver will be switching mail platforms to better serve your account. It's important to note that this upgrade will require that you re-configure your mail accounts on the new mail platform before the cut-over date of 9/21/03 at 5:30AM PST.

New Features Include:

* Blacklists - Allows us to query third party databases to block unwanted SPAM.

* Domain-based Filtering/Rules - A filtering engine that will allow you to specify your own rules to eliminate junk EMail.

* System-based Filtering/Rules - Siteserver will actively add rules to prevent widespread SPAM from every reaching your EMail box.

* Increased SMTP/POP3 Performance - Our new system architecture spreads the mail flow over several machines to allow quicker processing. Internal tests show up to an 800% (eight-hundred percent) increase in mail transfer speeds.

* Virus Scanning (future) - Virus scanning will not be enabled immediately after this transfer, however it will be activated in the near future.

* New Administration - Provides a much simpler interface to manage your user accounts and resolves issues with some browsers.

* APOP Support - You will now be able to securely transmit your POP3 password over the Internet.

As our feature list shows, our primary reason for this upgrade includes SPAM prevention and virus protection. We've received many comments from our customers over the last few months regarding the increase in SPAM and we immediately started researching alternative mail platforms to better serve your account.

To detail our migration plan, a brief outline is listed below:

* 9/17/03 6:00AM PST - Our new mail platform is online and ready for you to configure your users mailboxes (please note this MUST be done by 9/21/03 at 5:30AM PST or you *WILL* begin to lose EMail unless other arrangements have been made). We will not start routing mail to this system until 9/21/03.

* 9/21/03 5:30AM PST - All mail will begin routing to our new mail platform during a 2-4 hour transition period. NO mail will be lost during this transition (provided you have setup the new-user accounts); however some mail may still be delivered to our old mail system which will still be accessible via the link supplied below.

* 9/21/03 8:30AM PST - Our old mail system will be removed from routing, however the Web Interface and POP3/IMAP services will remain available at the following address for an additional 72 hours should you need to retrieve additional messages:

oldmail.siteserver.net (http://oldmail.siteserver.net)

* 9/24/03 8:30AM PST - oldmail.siteserver.net and mail2.siteserver.net will be removed from service.

*** Steps that you will need to take: ***

1) Configure all accounts on our new mail system no later than 9/21/03 8:30AM PST. This can be performed at the following URL:

URL: http://webmail.siteserver.net/admin

EMail Address: mailadmin@yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is your actual domain name)
Password:

If you have misplaced the password for your domain, please fill out a trouble ticket with the domain name in question and we'll promptly send the correct password to you.

Once logged in, click "Edit other Users"

Under the section "Add a user to a domain", enter the user's information, then click the button marked "Add user to Domain". Repeat this step until all users have been entered into the system.

2) On September 21, 2003 (After 5:30AM PST), you will need to update the incoming and outgoing mail servers in your mail application to reflect the new mail platform, they are as follows:

Incoming (POP3) - mailsrv11-pop3.siteserver.net
Outgoing (SMTP) - mailsrv11-smtp.siteserver.net

Please note that some ISP's block SMTP outbound (including Earthlink, Mindspring, and MSN). If you're currently using your ISP as an outbound SMTP server, we recommend leaving that field alone.

Should you have any questions and/or comments, we ask that you please use the trouble ticket system during this migration period as we have increased our personnel to accommodate the increased volume of support requests. Our trouble ticket center is located at:

Facility Update - New Network Infrastructure 1/22/2003 12:00:00 AM
Since the completion of our site transfer, we've been busy planning our next phase of our network build-out. This has long been in planning and will soon be realized when the implementation is released in early February. Once completed, Siteserver will offer a 100% guaranteed uptime on all core network elements, insuring our facility has sufficient bandwidth to service our customers in the event of multiple router/switch failures simultaneously.

In addition, we've installed new redundant firewalls and Intrusion Detection devices at various points within the network, insuring we're alerted as new threats become known across the internet. As always, we look forward to working with our valued customers throughout 2004!

EMail configuration changes. 7/15/2002 12:00:00 AM
Dear Valued Siteserver Customer,

We would like to inform you of an upcoming change to the e-mail service we provide. Effective 07/31/2002, Siteserver will require SMTP authentication for any mail sent through our mail systems. This change is necessary to prevent the unauthorized use of our mail servers by Spammers and users of competing networks.

Please note that if you are using your ISP's mail server for outbound mail, you may disregard this notice as it applies only to users relaying through our network.

To ensure that your e-mail service is uninterrupted, you will need to verify the configuration of your e-mail account. The simple changes will need to be applied to each workstation that you use to send e-mail. We have provided the following link to detailed instructions to assist you with any necessary changes:

http://www.siteserver.net/support/FAQ/FAQDetail.asp?CategoryID=41

These changes should be applied as soon as possible. Modifying your mail client now will not impact the functionality of your e-mail service before the server change. However, if you have not applied the changes by 07/31/2002 you will not be able to send email through your Siteserver email account until you have applied the changes.

Please forward this information to everyone who uses e-mail on your Siteserver account as this notice will only be sent to the primary account contact.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact the Siteserver support team and we will be happy to assist you. As always, thank you for choosing Siteserver!
